TOKYO (Reuters) – The Democratic Party for the People, which has been a supporter of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, has opposed the government’s draft budget, signaling a potential shift in its stance, Jiji news agency reported.
The DPFP, which voted for the government’s budget last year, made the decision at a meeting on Friday, according to Jiji.
Its leader, Yuichiro Tamaki, said the budget is “not enough” to contribute to wage growth, and doesn’t incorporate the DPFP’s desired doubling of funds for policies for children, Jiji reported.
