BEIJING (Reuters) – China urged the European Union to stop sanctioning Chinese companies and discrediting the country, its commerce ministry said on Tuesday, after Chinese entities and individuals were included in the EU’s latest sanctions package against Russia.
China always opposes unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law and are not authorized by the United Nations Security Council,a ministry spokesperson said, adding the EU’s move had a negative impact on China-EU economic and trade relations.
China will take necessary measures to firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises, the spokesperson added.
