BERLIN (Reuters) – Germany’s Left Party will vote against a special fund for increased military spending in the next legislature, party leader Ines Schwerdtner said on Tuesday.
“There will be no votes from Die Linke (The Left) in favour of this new special fund for defence,” Schwerdtner said in a statement issued two days after her party won 8.8% of votes in a snap election.
Germany is considering its second special defence fund as it faces a confrontational Trump administration and hostile Russia. A source in the conservative party, which won the election, said it could be hundreds of billions of euros.
