French consumer inflation confirmed at +0.9% y/y in March

(Reuters) – Consumer price inflation in France was stable in March, in line with analysts’ expectations and the preliminary reading, statistics office INSEE said on Tuesday.

France’s harmonized inflation rate, adjusted for comparison with other euro zone countries, was 0.9% year-on-year in March, INSEE said.

Analysts in a Reuters poll had on average expected the same figure for EU-harmonised inflation in March.

Last month, INSEE reported French inflation dropped below 1% for the first time in four years in February.
