India extends cenbank deputy Sankar’s term by one year

MUMBAI (Reuters) -India has extended the term of Reserve Bank of India deputy governor T. Rabi Sankar by one year, according to a government notification.

The government notification, dated April 21, said Sankar would continue to serve for an additional year starting May 3 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Sankar was first appointed deputy governor on March 3, 2021 for a period of three years before his term was extended by a year in 2024.

Sankar handles key departments like foreign exchange management, financial markets operations, financial markets regulations, external investments and government and bank accounts.
