BERLIN (Reuters) – The trade policy of U.S. President Donald Trump is particularly tough on German shipping company Hapag-Lloyd because of the high proportion of volumes related to the United States in global freight, the chief executive said on Wednesday.
Rolf Habben Jansen said 22% of global container freight and around 27% of Hapag’s own cargo volume was connected to the U.S., adding, “Against this backdrop, U.S. tariffs are particularly tough.”
