India’s Gujarat Fluorochemicals says one dead in gas leak

(Reuters) – India’s Gujarat Fluorochemicals said that a temporary gas leak on Wednesday at a plant in Gujarat state’s Ranjitnagar killed one and injured a few.

Local media outlets reported the incident on Wednesday, adding the leak had injured at least twelve workers.

Gujarat Fluorochemicals said that the leak was caused due to a minor rupture in the gas pipeline. The company added that plant operations were temporarily disrupted and it is conducting a detailed investigation into the cause of the rupture.

The damage to the equipment as well as the business loss suffered on account of the disruption is covered under insurance, it said.
