(Reuters) -Brembo SGL Carbon Ceramic Brakes (BSCCB) has completed a 50% production capacity expansion at its plants in Italy and Germany to meet growing demand for its high-performance brake discs, it said in a statement on Tuesday.

The joint venture of Italian brake maker Brembo and Germany’s SGL Carbon manufactures carbon ceramic discs for braking systems fitted in high-end luxury and sports cars.

The total investment for the capacity expansion, which is part of plans already announced by the companies, is worth 150 million euros ($177 million), a Brembo spokesperson said.

BSCCB said that the expansion of production capacity had been successfully completed at the sites in Stezzano, Brembo’s headquarters near Bergamo, Northern Italy, and Meitingen, in Bavaria, Germany.
