BEIJING (Reuters) -China and the UK should properly handle “occasional noises and disturbances” and enhance strategic communication to safeguard bilateral ties, Foreign Minister Wang Yi told his British counterpart on Thursday.
It is normal for the two countries to have differences, Wang said, adding that China stands ready to work with Britain to address global challenges, according to a readout of the phone call released by China’s foreign ministry.
Wang and Britain’s Yvette Cooper discussed “accelerating the resolution of urgent issues affecting China-UK relations,” and they agreed to meet each other halfway, the Chinese statement said, without elaborating on the issue or agreement reached.
