BERLIN (Reuters) – German Finance Minister Joerg Kukies on Monday said that Berlin is concerned by “intransparent, opaque behaviour” by UniCredit as part of the Italian bank’s takeover interest in Commerzbank.
“What we have concerns about in this specific case that you named is the very intransparent, opaque behaviour of the bank that you named, because we are just deeply convinced that hostile takeovers are not a recipe for success when it comes to systemically relevant banks,” Kukies told reporters in Brussels.
