Former China Everbright chairman sentenced to 15 years in prison, state media says

BEIJING (Reuters) – Li Xiaopeng, the former chairman of state-owned financial conglomerate China Everbright Group, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for taking bribes, state broadcaster CCTV reported on Tuesday.

From 1994 to 2021, Li accepted 60.4 million yuan ($8.36 million) in bribes while serving in various posts, including as vice president of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and Everbright Group chairman, the report said.

He has been fined 6 million yuan and all his ill-gotten gains will be confiscated, according to CCTV.
