Japan’s Mitsubishi may consider investing in Alaska LNG project, CEO says

TOKYO (Reuters) – Japanese trading house Mitsubishi Corp may consider investing in the Alaska LNG project in the United States, Chief Executive Katsuya Nakanishi said on Thursday, adding that careful due diligence would be needed before any decision.

An Alaskan delegation visited Japan last week to brief policymakers and meet possible backers of the $44 billion natural gas project, which is part of U.S. President Donald Trump’s push for more gas exports from the United States.
