Spain’s 12-month EU-harmonised inflation falls to 2.2% in March

(Reuters) – Spain’s European Union-harmonised 12-month inflation rate fell to 2.2% in March from the period through February, final data released by the National Statistics Institute, or INE, showed on Friday.

The INE’s final data of 2.2% confirmed the flash reading of 12-month European Union-harmonised inflation released two weeks ago and the average estimate from analysts polled by Reuters.

Core inflation, which strips out volatile fresh food and energy prices, was 2% in the 12 months through March, down from 2.2% in the period through February. It was in line with the 2% flash reading reported two weeks ago, INE said.

Spain’s 12-month national consumer prices rose 2.3% in the 12 months through March, down from 3% in the period through February.

The final data of 2.3% confirmed the flash estimate released by INE two weeks ago and the forecasts by analysts polled by Reuters at 2.3%.
