SEOGWIPO, South Korea (Reuters) -South Korea’s top trade envoy will highlight on Thursday that the global economy and trade faced added strain from growing uncertainties and urged the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) bloc to foster dialogue to tackle political and economic challenges.
For two days starting on Thursday, trade representatives of APEC member economies will discuss multilateral trade and other cooperation agendas, including reforms of the World Trade Organization amid current challenges.
Minister for Trade Cheong In-kyo will relay his prepared remarks at the opening of the meetings in Seogwipo on South Korea’s Jeju island later on Thursday, according to South Korea’s Industry and Trade ministry.
