E-commerce company Allegro teams up with DPD on delivery programme

Poland’s largest e-commerce platform Allegro said on Monday that its unit has signed a new agreement with courier DPD for delivery of parcels within the company’s own delivery service, as it scales and diversifies its logistics.

WHY IT’S IMPORTANT

Allegro has been taking steps to lower its delivery costs, such as increasing the share paid by merchant co-financing under its loyalty programme and developing its own logistics muscle.

KEY QUOTES

“The Agreement is part of the Company’s ongoing efforts to scale and diversify the Allegro Delivery programme by expanding cooperation with its logistics partners,” Allegro said in a regulatory filing.

BY THE NUMBERS

The agreement covers deliveries to DPD’s network of automated parcel machines, pick-up and drop-off points and directly to customers’ addresses, Allegro said. It is set to run until April 2030, the company said, adding that Allegro makes no volume commitments under the deal.

CONTEXT

Allegro launched its own delivery programme where it takes end-to-end responsibility for the delivery, initially teaming up with Orlen, and subsequently adding DHL.
