Japan to convene extraordinary Diet session on Oct 21, may pick PM

TOKYO (Reuters) -Japan’s government has decided to convene an extraordinary session of parliament on Oct. 21, selecting the date for a session widely expected to include a vote to pick the next prime minister, a parliamentary source said on Tuesday.

The ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) informed the main opposition Constitutional Democratic Party (CDP) of the decision during a meeting of upper house parliamentary affairs chiefs, the source said.
